Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. I’m Sounia Johnson. A Communication Researcher by trade, I leverage the power of words, behavioral communication, and formative research, jolting out siloed messaging found in dominant discursive spaces to elicit transformative change.

There are a lot of brilliant writers in this competitive landscape, but words alone are not enough. When it comes to strategic communication, formative research carries the day as it closely examines the prospective target audience, and which research frames to deploy to achieve complex communication objectives. Foot-in-the-door, social proof, inoculation theory, the theory of reasoned actions, emotional/rational appeals, planned behavior, focus group, scientific literature (review & synthesis), qualitative and quantitative analysis are the backbone of the communication researcher’s toolkit.

And guess what? This research expertise is part of my arsenal and makes me pretty damn good at what I do!

Copywriting

My approach to copywriting muses on creative ways to blend scientific rigor with humanistic sensibilities. I love digging into the intricacies of an assigned project, finding the most relevant nuggets and translating them into compelling content. I write emotion-evoking copy, drawing from my research expertise in the psychology of persuasive messaging to elicit action.

Expertise

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Affairs from Northeastern University, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Communication from the Johns Hopkins University where I’ve developed communication polling expertise under the guidance of NBC News Chief Political Deputy, Mark Murray.
